Summary

Here's what we covered regarding the the O in BOLD: Oneness & Authenticity

  • Take stock of yourself: Get clear on your current state by evaluating your values, assessing, gathering feedback, and taking time to reflect.

  • Authenticity is a super-power. Being true to ourselves keeps us in a place of strength. We can grow and go best from here.

  • Be intentional about the people you surround yourself with. The exercise we did on your personal board of directors helps you define who the most important people are in your life to help you grow professionally and personally.

We began our work on the L in BOLD: Lighthouse Leadership and learned this so far:

  • Hire the best people you can find and create an environment where they can fully succeed

  • Take the path less followed and lead by example

  • Starting with Why is a path to being clear on why what we are doing matters and a big step toward engaging others

Assignments

For the next session do the following:

  1. Review your integrity assessment results and come up with one action you would like to take to close a gap. Xtra credit--take the action!

  2. Find Your Why and Meet with your partner to refine your Why statements

Why Statement Partners

  • When your team and company have a clearly articulated Why, it creates focus and momentum

  • Belay is the system we use to engage employees in our team goals by linking their personal goals and/or their why

  • Communication is two ways-inward and outward. We should listen more than we speak.

Reminders: Coaching

  • You should all be continuing your monthly 1:1 Coaching Sessions with Kristen and Jose. They have shared with me that you are doing a great job in your 1:1s. Keep up the great work!

  • Your coaches are here to assist you with the application of the leadership lessons from our group sessions, help you better understand and apply your strengths as high performers and as leaders, and achieve your Individual Development Plan goals. (If you haven't shared your IDPs with your leader yet, now would be a great time to do it.)

Session 6: 12/06/2022

Session 6 Summary:

Here's what new material we covered regarding the L & D in BOLD: Lighthouse Leadership & Daring Drive

Lighthouse Leadership

-Envision, Enroll, & Engage is how to lead teams through challenging situations.  It's also the way to lead teams always.

-The Dual Imperatives of High Stakes Leadership--iterative process for making great decisions.  Fail fast, learn, and move forward.

-In the Chilean Mine Rescue, they brought in specialists that hadn't worked together before--they identified each team member's strengths and empowered them to utilize them fully.  How can we do this on our teams to work together to achieve our goals?

-Illuminate the way, communicate clearly and often, be credible, use BELAY to link your team's personal goals to team goals, align closely, aim and reflect each week to ensure you are on the right track and illuminating the path for your team

Daring Drive

-High-performance teams are on a journey.  Plan, Do, Check, Act--this interactive process in action ensures that you continuously improve and achieve results

-Prioritization and focus are the superpowers of execution

-The priority matrix is a powerful tool to use to ensure you are focusing and managing what is most important

Assignments for Next Session:

-Review the Priority Matrix Defined Grid, linked below.  Conduct a time study of how you spend your time utilizing the attached document Time Priority Matrix--track how you are spending your time today vs. how you would like it to be.

-Bring your IDP to our session and be ready to discuss with a partner--what progress have you made over the course of the program and what are you still looking to improve in?

-Get into e2grow and study up on your fellow leader's top strengths--we will do an activity where it will be very beneficial if you know your fellow leaders strengths--there will be fabulous prizes for those who excel!

Your coaches, Kristen and Jose, should be wrapping up your 1:1 sessions to assist you with applying the leadership lessons from our group sessions.  All 1:1s should be complete by end of December.  I'm hearing that you are doing a great job in your 1:1s.  Keep up the great work!
