Hi everyone:

Hope you are all doing well! We had a great session last week and recorded it for those of you who were unable to attend.

Here's a summary of what we discussed:

We reviewed the topics we covered in last session on:

  • Responsibility

  • The Leadership Challenge

  • Modeling the Way: Clarifying Values & Setting the Example.

  • The Five Meaningful Conversations: Setting Expectations

We spent time sharing our values with each other and linked them to our company/team vision and discussed how to extend this power to our teams.

We watched this video on Vision:

We discussed the book chapter we read from The Leadership Challenge: Inspire a Shared Vision and how to use Belay to enlist the team into the Brilliant Vision.

We also spent a good chunk of time working through the challenges that we are currently facing and how to set ourselves up for success in the coming year. Many are working through the conundrum that is being a player/coach--balancing leading your team and doing the work.

Action Items for next session are a couple of time studies and reflection on how you are spending your time vs. how you should be:

1. Review the Priority Matrix Defined document. There are four quadrants of Manage, Focus, Avoid, and Limit.

2. Conduct an overall time study of how you spend your time utilizing the document Time Priority Matrix--track how are you spending your time today vs. how would you like to be.

3. Take it down a level and conduct the Player/Coach time study. Capture how things are now and define how you would like them to be. Create an action plan to close the gap.

4. Read Practice 3 in The Leadership Challenge-Challenge the Process pp 145-192. How could you apply Searching for Opportunities, Experiment, and Taking Opportunities to your team and your role to achieve great success in 2023? pages 167, 168, 191, 192 have ideas for action. Which ones will you take? Document and come ready to discuss.

We are nearing the end of our journey together--two more group sessions left. You have made excellent progress so far - thank you for your diligence and dedication!

See you for our next session on December 15.
